Team FastBoats, based out of Pompano Beach, Fl was thrilled to participate in the augural Lake Race – 2013 at the Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri, this past weekend!

Owner/Throttleman Randy Sweers and Driver Tony Fiorillo ran a great race Saturday and Sunday. Sweers is no stranger to the Lake of the Ozarks, as he often participates in the LOTO Shootout, and knows these waters extremely well, both in condition and handling. Randy’s sleek 40′ MTI Cat, powered by Twin Potter Performance 750s, is one of the most well recognized offshore powerboats, and truly kicked off the season with a great Saturday/Sunday podium finish, taking 2nd in Pro-Am 1 class, 3rd in PX class. Way to go, Team FastBoats!!

After a few morning showers, it turned out to be a BEAUTIFUL day for racing at the Lake of the Ozarks for the Lake Race 2013! FANTASTIC job to Team FastBoats for two podium finishes!

Team FastBoats is all packed up and ready to hit the water for Lake Race 2013 — Lake of the Ozarks Invitational Powerboat Race. The festivities run from Thursday, June 6th thru Sun. June 9th 2013! Have you been keeping up-to-date with the new Marina Lofts project? Have you heard of the recent approval given by the Fort Lauderdale Planning & Zoning board? Below is a portion of the press release, with a link to the full article at the bottom. Let us know your thoughts on this project and its potential to bring in the newest generation of young professionals and culture, with the help of Asi Cymbal, renowned innovator and developer mastermind behind the Marina Lofts presentation that received an astounding unanimous vote approval.

Marina Lofts received a 9-0 approval from the Fort Lauderdale Planning & Zoning board just before 1 a.m. on Wednesday, May 15th.

The Fort Lauderdale City Commission chamber was overflowing with supporters wearing green t-shirts and opponents wearing blue shirts. There were so many in attendance that the fire marshal ordered that some attendees in the back of the chambers leave.

Developer Asi Cymbal and his team gave a detailed one-hour presentation about the project. Before the vote, city staff basically said the nearly 1,000-unit rental project fit with desired development in the area.

A controversial plan to move a giant rain tree wasn’t within the purview of the P&Z board’s review, so opponents’ last-ditch efforts to stop the project will depend on the Fort Lauderdale City commission. So far, the commission appears to support the project.

Marina Lofts would be a major landmark on the south side of the New River west of Andrews Avenue next to the site of Related’s New River Yacht Club.

Cymbal said the project was a tremendous opportunity to help make Fort Lauderdale a world class city.

“We are not looking to create an average or ordinary community. We are looking to transform and transcend,” Cymbal said.

This weekend, Cocoa Beach was host to the 4th Annual Space Coast Super Boat Grand Prix! FastBoats Marine Group owner Randy Sweers was co-commentator throughout the event, and you can catch full footage of both races at the official Super Boat International Livestream, here. Below is footage from the first race, where you can hear everything Randy had to say about the great display of marine power and speed during the race!

Key West, Fla. (May 21, 2013) – For the fourth straight year, Cocoa Beach packed The Pier, jammed the beach and welcomed Super Boat International’s Space Coast Super Boat Grand Prix. The only difference this year was Cocoa Beach forgot to turn off the wind.

Twenty-four super boats, including the debut of the Spirit of Qatar in the SUPERBOAT class, took on 4-foot rollers and steady winds gusting to 20 mph as they navigated the 5.4-mile loop just off the beach. The winds were so stiff the sight of a boat completely out of the water (or sideways on one sponson) was a common occurrence. The first race was even cut a bit short when a spectator’s deck boat took on water and began sinking inside the course. The choppy conditions did, however, provide some very exciting racing.
