Jen Klaassens and our own Kim Sweers have announced the recipients of 2012 March of Dimes Women of Distinction Annual Award, which is designed to honor women whose achievements, both professionally and personally, serve as an example to the Broward County community.
This year’s honorees include: Ashley Boxer Dalley, corporate manager of government and community relations for Baptist Health South Florida in Broward County; Bella Cabrera, chief nursing officer of the Memorial Healthcare System; Dr. Marga Figueroa, a neonatologist at Broward Health’s Chris Evert Children’s Hospital; Anne Orvieto, a flutist with the 95-piece Greater Miami Symphonic Band; Stacy Ostrau, Society Scene publisher and community affairs manager of Sun Sentinel; Taren Ruggiero, executive director of nursing at Holy Cross Hospital; Marcella M. Rutherford, dean of the College of Nursing at Nova Southeastern University; Barbara Sharief, Broward County Commissioner; and Mindy Shrago, executive director of Young at Art Museum.
The 2012 March of Dimes Women of Distinction will be recognized at a luncheon, on Dec. 13, at the Marriott Harbor Beach Resort & Spa in Fort Lauderdale from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tickets are $85 in advance or $95 at the door.
The mission of the March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.
