Owner and Throttleman, veteran Randy Sweers, started his offshore powerboat racing career in 1995 in the Superstock Class with a 30’ Motion Cat. In 2000-2003, he partnered with Larry Goldman in a 35’ Motion Cat, where he went on to win the 2002 World and National Championships in the P-1 Class. And From 2003-2008, he was the Lake of the Ozarks Shoot Out Class Champion. In 2010, he built a state of the art 40’ MTI Cat powered by Twin 525 Mercury EFIs and #6 drives, full carbon fiber construction with integrated safety cell. He and driver Danilo Zampaloni went on to place 3rd overall in the 2010 Superboat National Championship and 2nd place in 2011. He started the 2012 season with new driver, Tony Fiorillo, a triathlete and pilot from West Saint Paul, Minnesota. They placed 2nd at the Superboat International season opener in Sarasota, and took first place at home in the Miami Grand Prix this past July.
Racing Director Richie Powers is most accredited for his past offshore racing career as a seven time national champion and eleven time world champion. He has also held the honors as European, Italian and South American Class 1 Champion. In 1993 and 1994, he set the Class 1 World Kilo Speed Record, which still stands, and in 2009 was inducted into the National Powerboat Association Hall of Fame. Along with his numerous accomplishments, he has worked and raced with international film stars including Don Johnson and Kurt Russell.
